National Poetry Writing Month 2018 Poem #2

The atmosphere changes.

They walk in and tension

Spreads to every corner.

It’s obvious that today

Just isn’t their day.

Nothing seems to be

Positive in their life.

Others give them

A wide berth as well.

This upsets them further.

Devoid of patience,

They utter bitter words

To vent their frustration.

I itch to put them into

Their place with a series of

Quick-witted words.

But what’ll it accomplish?

Absolutely nothing! Zilch!

Soothing tones are needed

To dispel the negativity.

Keep the hate from spreading.
