“The Queen of Rejection”
National Poetry Writing Month 2017 Poem #24
She mews loudly at me, begging for attention.
I reach out, trying to pet her soft fur.
The cat complains and pulls away from me.
Big blue eyes look hurt when I leave.
More crying and she winds around my feet.
Bending over, I attempt it once again.
I get a moment of contact before she walks past.
Pacing, she rubs her ears along the wall.
Slowly, the feline makes her way back to my hand.
She sniffs and scuttles away–the little tease.
