National Poetry Writing Month 2017 Poem #14

Blameless, He was wrongly accused.

They called for his innocent blood,

Not knowing that is was part of a

Divine plan they couldn’t fathom.

For silver, a friend betrayed Christ’s

None of the others  understood

His parting words before His death.

As He hung on the cross for our sins,

Jesus gasped that it  was finished.

His remaining disciples and loved ones

Wept but their grief would soon end.

The ultimate sacrifice was made.

Sins no longer separate us from our

Loving Father who reigns in Heaven.

For three days He remained buried

Before rising from the tombed grave.

He is risen–He is risen indeed!
